Stellest lenses are the first—and only—FDA approved spectacle lens that slow the progression of nearsightedness in children!

The Essilor® Stellest® lens represents the latest advancement in myopia management, offering a highly effective solution for slowing myopia progression in children. Its performance is comparable to the current leading treatments, such as orthokeratology, dual-focus soft contact lenses, and 0.05% atropine.
Backed by clinical studies, including one- and two-year randomized controlled trials, Essilor® Stellest® lenses have demonstrated significant results. Children who wore these lenses for a minimum of 12 hours per day showed a reduction of 0.41 mm in axial length and 0.99D in myopia compared to those who wore single vision spectacles.
The Essilor® Stellest® lens features cutting-edge Highly Aspherical Lenslet Target (H.A.L.T.) Technology, specifically designed to provide optimal myopia control.

The Essilor® Stellest® spectacle lens takes myopia management to the next level by introducing the innovative concept of a "Volume of Myopic Defocus" (VoMD). This cutting-edge approach builds on the well-established idea that myopic defocus can slow eye growth—a concept previously demonstrated in animal studies using techniques like "peripheral defocus" and "simultaneous defocus."
What that means is that myopia control works by creating two contrasting focal signals. One focuses directly on the retina to correct vision, while the other creates myopic defocus (a signal in front of the retina) to slow down the progression of myopia. While traditional lenses typically focus on a single point, the VoMD approach creates a broader, non-focused light distribution across the retina.
This "volume" of myopic defocus offers a more effective way to manage eye growth, offering hope for better long-term control of myopia based on promising animal model results.

Is your child starting to develop myopia? The earlier a child starts developing nearsightedness, the more likely it is to get worse over time. Essilor® Stellest® lenses can help correct and slow down your child's myopia as it progresses.
Already myopic? Most kids with myopia today wear regular glasses that only correct their nearsightedness. Essilor® Stellest® lenses not only fix myopia but also help slow it from getting worse.

Yes! Essilor® Stellest® lenses can be used as your child's everyday glasses. They offer clear vision correction while also working to slow down myopia progression. However, it's important to consult with your optometrist to see if they’re the right choice for your child.
The effects of Stellest® lenses are gradual. It typically takes several months of consistent wear to start noticing a slowdown in myopia progression. Regular check-ups with your optometrist will help monitor progress and adjust the treatment plan if needed.
