What are Stellest Lenses?
The Essilor® Stellest® lens represents the latest advancement in myopia management, offering a highly effective solution for slowing myopia progression in children. Its performance is comparable to the current leading treatments, such as orthokeratology, dual-focus soft contact lenses, and 0.05% atropine.
Backed by clinical studies, including one- and two-year randomized controlled trials, Essilor® Stellest® lenses have demonstrated significant results. Children who wore these lenses for a minimum of 12 hours per day showed a reduction of 0.41 mm in axial length and 0.99D in myopia compared to those who wore single vision spectacles.

How does Stellest Lenses work?
The Essilor® Stellest® spectacle lens takes myopia management to the next level by introducing the innovative concept of a "Volume of Myopic Defocus" (VoMD). This cutting-edge approach builds on the well-established idea that myopic defocus can slow eye growth—a concept previously demonstrated in animal studies using techniques like "peripheral defocus" and "simultaneous defocus."
What that means is that myopia control works by creating two contrasting focal signals. One focuses directly on the retina to correct vision, while the other creates myopic defocus (a signal in front of the retina) to slow down the progression of myopia. While traditional lenses typically focus on a single point, the VoMD approach creates a broader, non-focused light distribution across the retina.
This "volume" of myopic defocus offers a more effective way to manage eye growth, offering hope for better long-term control of myopia based on promising animal model results.
