In our Optilight IPL procedure, a trained practitioner makes use of a specialized tool to rejuvenate the patient's meibomian glands and alleviate meibomian gland dysfunction. The tool utilizes a combination of visual and infrared light which penetrates the skins surface and acts directly on the glands themselves, restoring proper function and blood flow.
During a Lipiflow, patients meibomian glands are gently massaged by the patented Lipiflow Thermal Pulsation System, which works both over and under the eyelids. This often clears blockages in the tear pathway that contribute to symptoms of Dry Eye Syndrome, and revitalizes bloodflow to the eyelids long after treatment has concluded.
Blephex is specifically designed as a treatment for blepharitis, or inflammation of the eyelids. Our Blephex procedure uses a fast-spinning, medical grade micro sponge to gently clean the glandular exits on a patient's eyelids. Secretions from glands that line the eyelids often cause blockages, resulting in discomfort, dryness and other symptoms of Dry Eye Syndrome.
Among the more effective remedies is Neurolens, a unique spectacle lens that uses a contoured prism design to assist your eyes' ability to work as a team - thus alleviating ocular headaches, pain, and surface level irritation that may initially appear as an unrelated issue.
Our Doctors may also recommend a number of other remedies depending on your symptoms. Over the counter medications and lifestyle changes can be key factors in maintaining proper eye health in the long term. In addition, a number of prescription medications can be standout solutions for some patients. See Below.
Xiidra is a prescription eye drop used to treat the signs and symptoms of dry eye disease. Xiidra targets a source of inflammation that may cause dry eye disease. Dry eye disease can be caused by inflammation on the surface of the eye. Xiidra® is specifically designed to target a source of that inflammation.
Xiidra has been studied in more than 1,000 patients with dry eye in four separate, 12-week clinical studies. Xiidra was proven to reduce symptoms of eye dryness in all four studies and Inferior fluorescein Corneal Staining Score in three of the four studies in some patients at week 12.
Xiidra may not work for everyone. Ask your doctor if Xiidra is right for you.
IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION
Do not use Xiidra if you are allergic to any of its ingredients. Seek medical care immediately if you get any symptoms of an allergic reaction.
The most common side effects of Xiidra include eye irritation, discomfort or blurred vision when the drops are applied to the eyes, and an unusual taste sensation.
To help avoid eye injury or contamination of the solution, do not touch the container tip to your eye or any surface. If you wear contact lenses, remove them before using Xiidra and wait for at least 15 minutes before placing them back in your eyes.
It is not known if Xiidra is safe and effective in children under 17 years of age.
